At dinner with my wife and kid yesterday, I had to endure possibly the most racially biased service I have ever been subject to.
We walk in to the place after having booked over the phone. 2 tables occupied. The "owner" asks one of the waitresses to seat us at the far corner of the restaurant, not thrilled, but figured it might be a nice cosy corner. Later realised that it was right next to the kitchen door and we would have to "enjoy" our meal to the constant traffic in and out of there.
RACIAL BIAS 1: A white family comes in about 10 minutes after us, gets ushered to the opposite corner table by the waitress but are promptly moved to a central table by the "owner". I ask if we can be moved from our table too and with about 3-4 tables suited to fit us being vacant, I am told that "they are all booked"...note that none of these tables had been occupied even when we were walking out of the place
RACIAL BIAS 2: We were never spoken to by the "owner" but I noticed that every other table (coincidentally occupied by Caucasian customers) were waited on by him.....apparently we were not even worthy of the usual "how is everything" enquiry
THE KICKER: At the end of the meal I mentioned both these things to him while paying up...one would expect an apology and possibly be told that he was sorry we felt that way or something to that effect, instead he tells me that I should not take it personally.....not sure how i was not to....and the worst part was that mid-conversation he proceeded walk away from me...
So disappointing that we Indians are the ones who are the most racist towards our own community!!!!!
